Laura Diffenderfer is an artist, writer, and creative marketer.
Most recently, Laura has delved into photography full force. Her first exhibition, It Won’t Be This Way Forever, runs Aug 11-Sep 30 at Opus 40.
She previously worked at The Joyce Theater as the Associate Director, Content Strategy. In this capacity, she oversaw The Joyce’s promoted social campaigns and developed creative ways to deeply engage audiences with video, audio, image, and the written word. Prior to her work in marketing, Laura spent six years in programming, where she developed cross-cultural collaborations between Cuban and American artists, and created and produced Joyce Unleashed, a series of off-site programming focused on experimental artists. Prior to her tenure at The Joyce, Laura worked in magazine publishing, as well as film production for the long-running PBS documentary series Dance in America.
Over the course of her career, regardless of medium, Laura has been fascinated by the creative process, and the spark that drives us all to create and connect.
Laura has moderated many artist conversations, and is the host of a podcast on dance and the creative process, called Still Spinning (click on AUDIO for more). Laura continues to moderate talks and conduct interviews of various kinds.
In her free time, Laura enjoys traveling, podcasts, and plants. She currently lives in the woods but still loves cities, particularly New York City, Mexico City, and Havana.
Laura holds an MA in Performance Studies from NYU, and a BFA in Dance from Marymount Manhattan College, where she has also taught Dance and Cultural History.
